Book release date, 3/10/2015Story Rating ~ 3.5 StarsHero Rating ~ 4 StarsHeroine Rating ~ 4 StarsRomance Rating ~ 4 StarsHeat Level ~ 4.5 StarsEnding ~ 5 StarsOverall Rating ~ 4 StarsIt had been a while since I read an erotic historical romance, so when I saw this posted at NetGalley, I jumped on it and boy am I happy I did.The Scoundrel’s Lover is book 2 in The Notorious Flynn series by Jess Michaels. I was a bit concerned going into this one seeing I have not read book 1 The Other Duke. As i [...]

    2. I AM MAD. AND I AM SHOCKED. When I read the blurb, I expected a sexier version of Dreaming of You or something similar. I've read 2 of Jess Michaels' books before, so I expected at least a decently written story. I expected at the very fucking least a decent romance between two people who couldn't resist the attraction between them, despite the obvious difference in their social stations. And what the fuck did I get?A wishy-washy invertebrate of a heroine who didn't know what she wanted in life. [...]

    3. I don't know why I was so excited to start this. But I was. Having said that, I think my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong, I liked it. I just didn't love it. It could've been because the heroine was in denial throughout 90% and we only get a little bit of spice compared to other books from this author. Yes, yes I'm a slut with my books. Anyway, it's not a bad read and it's a standalone soo that's good, right?

    4. Annabelle Flynn's family has never has the best of reputations and she yearns for respectability outwardly, but inwardly she craves to explore her sensuality. Annabelle has decided in order to gain that respectability, she needs a husband with a title, but a title will not necessarily mix with those budding desires that come to light when she meets the gaze of her older brother's friend, Marcus Rivers. The handsome rogue, Marcus Rivers could give a fig about what society says about him. As part o [...]

    5. Wow this book is spicy!! There is a plethora of love scenes that are decadent and alluring. Jess Michaels has created a book that balances a great plot, wonderful and complicated characters and fiery passion. It’s a lot harder to create than one would imagine and when executed well, it’s a delight for the reader. We meet Annabelle Flynn in the first book in the series. She is part of the infamous Flynn family. Her father and brothers are notorious scoundrels and rakes. She is an exceptionally [...]

    6. Originally Reviewed For: Bodice Rippers, Femme Fatales and FantasyAn interesting concept Jess Michaels writes historical erotica It's funny because we all know they didn't have sex way back then, let alone fantasize about it And you know those ladies? They never ever thought about men, sex or their own bodies *grins* But seriously this book could possibly fit in with a few of the contemporary erotica books I have read Well written and enjoyable and with an excellent story it's easy to get lost i [...]

    7. I loved Marcus, "he drew back, suddenly understanding. "Are you talking about desire?" He's willing to go the distance to help his woman out, "I can get what I need, without penetrating you. And no matter how much I want to do that-" He somehow stifled a moan. "-I vow to you that I will not, Annabelle. I can give you pleasure, you can give me the same and I won't spoil you for whatever man is lucky enough to make you his bride. Will that satisfy you?" Sometimes a girl has to get creative to make [...]

    8. Review copy courtesy of the publisher via NetGalley. The Scoundrel's Lover by Jess Michaels is Book 2 in the Notorious Flynns series. I read Book 1 (The Other Duke) and really enjoyed it. Now, I don't know if this is a category yet but if not, I'm just going to call THIS book Historic Erotica!Annabelle was a very cool character. She's grown up with her brothers who were total troublemakers (in a good way). They drank and caroused and loved women and had a blast. Now that Annabelle's older brother [...]

    9. I got this ARC via Netgalley and I am very glad. I loved it. Again. Typical Jess Michaels. “The Scoundrel’s lover” is the 2nd book in the “The Notorious Flynns” series by Jess and I’d say you should have read number one to understand some of the side characters because they are quite important in this storyline, especially Serafina. Anabelle is the sister of the two rake Flynn brothers. But one of those turned into a respectable duke within the last year, married a wonderful woman (h [...]

    10. Unpredictable and scorching hot! Protective of her siblings, Annabelle is a proud, stubborn and strong heroine with lots of courage. Marcus is a flawed hero who feels undeserving of Annabelle's attention - tortured much? They get together in order to help her brother, Crispin, who's the next sibling to get a book in the series! She’s not the innocent and timid heroine that most regency heroines are. I adore Jess’s writing, it’s fluid and sexy. The Flynns are a complex family, one of the fe [...]

    11. This book is ridiculous. That’s always a bad thing – I’ve read some absurd things in my life, some of them in the historical genre, and enjoyed them thoroughly. Sadly, this wasn’t ridiculous in a good way. Mostly it was ridiculous beyond all bounds of sense and left me wanting to shake the heroine until her supposed brain started working again.Ah, Annabelle, foolish, irritating Annabelle. I never understood why she was so obsessed with respectability. She has a happy family life, she’s [...]

    12. Oh em gee, what drivel. To be fair, I read this off reading one of my favorite historical romances of all time (The Highwayman. Go read it now.), which is sort of like having Bruce Springsteen open for you. Still, even if I hadn't just read such an engrossing, sexy, well-written book, I still would have seen this as a hollow, paint by numbers piece of poo. This is the sort of book that makes me feel shame at my addiction to romance. It's like an Archie comic, but not funny. Okay, Archie comics a [...]

    13. Regency romance on the X rated side.Afternoon tea and meaningless conversations or salacious desires and heady jasmine scents? The relationship drawn between what is respectable and acceptable and what is not. Annabelle Flynn must chose between the respectability of a disengaged Society marriage or the call of her wild side, the call of her Flynn-dom. The Flynn's, a by-word for Society's view of disrespect-ability. Can Annabella escape this? Does she really want to escape this? It seems like nat [...]

    14. Absolutely loved this book! Reminded me in a way of "Devil in Winter" the Lisa Kleypas book and I just had to finish it all in one sitting!

    15. Quattro stelle e mezzo.

    17. Always a sucker for the sister and wrong side of the tracks best friend of the brotherlove their journey to happiness ever after

    18. Disclosure: I received a review copy from the author via Netgalley. Thank you, Jess Michaels, for the opportunity. Yes, this is an honest review.* * *When I first met Annabelle in Rafe's book, I had the impression that she was her own person -- one who thought and made decisions for herself. She felt formidable and I enjoyed thinking about this unconventional woman as a member of such a notorious family."Mr. Rivers, you have no idea of the depth of my ability to be a Flynn in every way that work [...]

    19. Review originally posted at fictionvixen/review-scoundAfter her brother suddenly inherits a dukedom and finds love, Annabelle Flynn realizes her chances for respectability and a decent marriage might actually be within reach. Being a member of the notorious Flynns hasn’t helped her reputation and her brothers and father’s antics over the years have only served to hinder her chances for a life other than spinsterhood. She wants her chance to reach out and grab for something more, and decides [...]

    20. How could the owner of Donville Masquerade, an upscale Gambling Den, possibly associate with the sister of Raphael Flynn, the new Duke of Hartholm? Yet as Marcus Rivers surveyed the clientele at his establishment, there she was, masked but still recognizable, especially to someone who had been spying on her for years - Annabelle Flynn, his best friend's sibling, and also the sister of the drunken man tied up in one of his back rooms. Rivers had to decide, did he dare assist Annabelle in her ques [...]

    21. "You are mine right now, Annabelle. Don't forget that."THE STORY: Annabelle Flynn wants respectability and intends to use her brother's new dukedom and her dowry to find a titled husband. The Flynn family reputation has felt like a burden to Annabelle. The Flynns biggest problem right now is their brother Crispin who is drinking, gambling and fighting too much. Annabelle's quest to save her brother leads her to the sex and gambling club of Marcus Rivers. Marcus has wanted Annabelle for years and [...]

    22. Annabelle Flynn is the sister of the notorious Flynn brothers, Rafe and Crispin. Though she’s not exactly squeaky clean herself, Annabelle hopes to use Rafe’s elevation to a Dukedom to secure a respectable society marriage. Except she is still a Flynn and family sticks together so when Crispin spirals out of control in the infamous gambling hell known as The Donville Masquerade, Annebelle doesn’t give it two thoughts before marching over there to rescue him. There she encounters Marcus Riv [...]

    23. ***An ARC provided via NETGALLEY for an honest review***Jess Michaels is a remarkable author. Her characters are well developed and far more deeper than the simpering misses and dashing rouges you usually see in historical romances. Her characters are usually already partially, fully, or about to be sexually liberated and come with very deep and interesting backstories. This novel did not disappoint on that accord. Some people may see the heroine (Annabelle) as being vain but, having a family na [...]

    24. AMAZING PAGE TURNING ROMANCE!!!I am an avid fan of Jess Michael’s talent and I must say The Scoundrel’s Lover does not disappoint in any way. The Scoundrel’s Lover is book 2 in the Notorious Flynn series, with book 1 being The Other Duke. Even though some characters from the first book are mentioned and continued to The Scoundrel’s Lover, the reader doesn’t become lost if they haven’t read The Other Duke yet. However, you will find yourself immediately going back to read book 1 after [...]

    25. So thrilled with this series. Annabelle & Marcus are HOT!When her brother, Crispin, goes beyond trouble at the notorious vice club owned by the family’s friend, Marcus Rivers, it’s Annabelle Flynn, who goes to his rescue or so she thinks. Having always wanted to distance herself from the Notorious Flynn brothers, she now finds herself drawn to a man who should have her running in the opposite direction and most certainly, not toward his bed. Perhaps she’s not as different from her brot [...]

    26. I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Annabelle Flynn is the sister of London’s two biggest libertines, and her reaction has been to become the picture of purity. But the sensual nature of her family has not been lost on her and she is troubled by urges she dare not follow. She ignores the demands of her body and instead throws herself into two different activities. One is pursuing a proper marriage in Society and the other is trying to save her broken brothe [...]

    27. A lovely romance and a wonderful continuation of the Notorious Flynns series, The Scoundrel's Lover was an enjoyable read. With passionate characters and a great story, this book was great and I liked it.Annabelle was a heroine who definitely had a will of her own. When she decided she wanted something, she went after it with everything in her. Sometimes, that was annoying, like with her insistence that she wanted to marry a proper husband rather than a man she would be happy with. It was annoyi [...]

    29. I have to say I loved everything about this book. Strong flawed characters who did not know their own worth because of the life they've lived and the constrictions of the ton. Marcus Rivers runs Donville Masquerade a popular Hell in London Annabelle Flynn wants nothing more then a respectable life and a fine match among the ton. Shes having her first season and trying her best to fit in. Every since her brother Rafe has become the Duke of Hartholm their brother Chrispin has been floundering in w [...]

    30. 4 starsI liked the book - but not quite as much as the first book The Other Duke.I thought Annabelle was a good heroine - but she acted a bit stupid for a woman who was so smart in the first book. Marcus was great. But he too acted a bit stupid. He has been fascinated by Annabelle for YEARS but thinking he was not worthy of her has kept his distance. These two embark on a "kinda affair" while maintaining the delusion that the only reason she is coming to his club is to watch over her brother Cri [...]
