    1. An electrifying, whip-smart reading experience about a rogue scientist whose lethal creations place the world at the brink of collapse. The Apothecary is a nano-technology thriller, exploring the heights of human degeneracy and the vile consequences of insane arrogance. Highly recommended. 2. There are thrillers and then there are 'techno-thrillers'. The Apothecary is the latter, even though the word conjures up the image of old magic and old potions. Readers with an interest in science gone awry are the audience of techno-thrillers, which often rely on scientific disasters or the injection of political power struggles into the scientific process or discovery - and this is where The Apothecary gets really interesting. In its world, a stressed project director of a top-secret nanotechn [...]

    3. While not a "raging river of action," in the words of the author, The Apothecary will suck you into a vortex of frightening possibilities. Nanotechnology, the science of formulating workable systems at a molecular level, is happening now. Soon tiny machines will be able to enter your bloodstream and correct or improve your body's systems. The potential is unfathomable but Chamberlain takes a stab at it.When a nano-scientist goes rogue, industry and governmental officials fear a coming global mel [...]

    4. The scenario in this amazing novel will have you reading way into the night. The suspense just keeps growing as everyone from the Mafia to the North Koreans are desperate to control the person capable of making a nano drug that mimics LSD or Heroin but can not be detected--. Then there are the murders to conceal the identity of the demented but brilliant scientist who seems to be able to hide in plain site. Then the unthinkable happens--this self replicating drug escapes and begins to crumble a c [...]

    5. I reviewed this book for NetGalley. This novel is a tautly paced and exciting near-future science fiction roller coaster, with quirky characters, a complex and fascinating villain and "it could happen" technology and plot. The plot has a lot of twists and turns and will hold the reader's interest. Characters are interesting and different in a likable way. Nanotechnology is an up and coming field, and its misuse in this novel gives the book and air of immediacy.A really good action/ adventure sci- [...]
