    1. Toni’s best memories from childhood are working at her aunt and uncle’s bakery. Now she has inherited the bakery and made it her own. Jason Matthews has recently lost his mother and, in accordance with her will, is now working with his estranged father. Needing time away, he takes a three-month vacation. When he walks into Shades of Chocolate, he is reminded of his mother’s first bakery. When Toni needs help, he jumps right in, grateful for the chance to bake again. I really enjoy Cecelia [...]

    3. Title: Shades of ChocolateAuthor: Cecelia DowdyPublisher: C.D.Series: The Bakery Romance Series Book 2Reviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: FiveReview:"Shades of Chocolate" by Cecelia DowdyMy Thoughts. What a wonderful Christian romance read that was full of 'faith, family and love' that comes for Toni and Jason beautifully told story in this second series'The Bakery Romance Book 2.' How these two met was definitely a work of art as this author brings these two together both having the love of chocolat [...]

    4. I don't typically read books that are as straight forward about faith and religion as this book was. I do enjoy books that include faith in them, but this was stronger on the topic. With that being said, I felt that this was a very good book. It was a sweet romance with characters that were trying to work through personal challenges, and had friends that supported them along the way. I did find myself getting riled up at times and having to walk away because I didn't feel that certain actions we [...]

    5. Toni and Jason meet over desert at her bakery. Her life changes when she meets him but the fact he is a Christian and her prior baggage makes it difficult for her to commit.Jason has his baggage, also and he's concerned she is not a Christian.I loved the story set in a chocolate bakery. It makes my mouth water just reading the book. The romance is exciting, the suspense intense. All in all, this is an excellent book that shows the Lord's grace and forgiveness.A copy of this book was given in exchan [...]

    6. I enjoy Cecelia Dowdy's recipes for romance mixed into the world of specialty desserts and treats. She gives us characters that reflect real life contemporary challenges and situations that are intriguing. Being a chocoholic I like her theme of Bakery Romance for this series. The author starts this story with a bang! Toni Brown bakes wonderful sweets and breads for a living. She owns Shades of Chocolate bakery which keeps her busy in her community. She comes from a hard life and she appreciates [...]

    7. HmmmWell what can I say? I read Raspberry Kisses and enjoyed it, but I enjoyed Shades of Chocolate more. The characters and romance were well developed. Although this was mainly a romance there was also a touch of mystery and danger. I love mystery and danger. I'd like to have known a little more about the aftermath, though. What was it like for Toni to meet Jason's family? I'm always curious about the aftermath, though. I wonder how Toni and Jason's relationship will grow from here. Oh yeah and [...]

    8. Very cute series. You sort of feel like you're fondly watching the main character, Toni, as she goes through her day to day, growing her business and dealing with the questions of relationships and faith. Very relatable. I'd even recommend this book to my teenage daughters. Fun read.

    9. I really enjoyed this book and the one before it. I will read the next one as well. The characters were so believe able,as we're their problems I recommend it to everyone.

    10. I love this bakery romance series by Cecelia Dowdy. You can read either book first but the main characters and one side character from the first book are mentioned in this one. There's enough explanation I believe that you wouldn't need to read in order if you didn't want to. Although the side character, Sterling, is set to be the main character in book 3 of this series. Which I am excited to read about his story. I love baking and cooking and so reading about it and the fun creations mentioned [...]

    11. The love of chocolate I gave this book five stars because it's the first Christian book that I've read that I truly enjoyed. The characters were great and I liked the hint of mystery to it. Toni question her friends faith in God but learns through the love of a good man and his faith in God all things are possible . Jason is trying to start over after the loss of his mom and he falls for a woman that shares his interest but lacks faith in God. This a feel good book.

    12. I was given a free copy of Shades of Chocolate in exchange for an honest review on the site of my choice. I had picked up 'Raspberry Kisses' in a free for all from somewhere. I'm a book hoarder and I'm on every single freebie site known to man and I pick up things indiscriminately and put them in my To Be Read folder. Granted this folder could now fill a library and my PC Kindle is rather unwieldy, but probably the one-sure-fire way to make sure I read your book is offer me another freebie with [...]

    13. Shades of Chocolate by Cecelia Dowdy is a contemporary Christian romance. It is the second book in the Bakery Romance series but can be read as a stand-alone.Shades Of Chocolate is an absolutely delightful read. I found myself immersed in its pages from the start. Cecelia Dowdy writes wonderful descriptive passages, I could almost 'smell' the goodies cooking. There was everything a reader could want in Shades Of Chocolate a hero, a heroine, a fabulous setting, a mystery and lots of chocolate good [...]

    14. Cecelia Dowdy wrote a Bakery Romance series that, just by its designation, intrigued me. I read the first, Raspberry Kisses, and enjoyed it enough that I was glad to read book two, Shades of Chocolate. (I was offered this book free for purposes of review, but a review was requested, not required, and a “good” review was never mentioned. These are my fair opinions.) Book three just came out mid-summer, Sweet Dreams, and there is a Christmas novella I own, but haven’t read yet; saving it for [...]

    15. First and foremost I was given this book to write an honest and fair review. I have to say that this book is Amazing. It by far exceeded my expectations. It was a good, clean Christian Romance with a little bit of a Mystery thrown in. The characters were well written. I loved the fact that it had a great Christian underlining to it. This author by far exceeds my expectations and I give her credit. She blended Christian values nicely with a real world setting. I do have to say that I agree with a [...]

    16. Toni is running a bakery she has inherited from her Aunt and Uncle. She is dealing with devastation of her fiance's cheating on her.Jason loves to bake. His family owns a chain of bakery's in Chicago. He was very close to his mother and he is dealing with her death. She wanted him to work with his dad in the business offices of the bakeries. Jason and his father have never gotten along. He personally thinks his father hates him. His father arranges a business trip for him to visit other bakery's [...]

    17. Jason Matthews is working through his anger and loneliness after his mom dies. His father wants him to learn more about the corporate side of their baking business, instead of working in the kitchen baking. He travels, acquiring family owned bakeries. He decides to take a vacation and spends it in the town of Blue Spring. Toni Brown owns a bakery, Shades of Chocolate, in Blue Spring. She is struggling to move on after being hurt by her fiancée. She is struggling with her faith in God. When Jaso [...]

    18. I've found "Shades of Chocolate" to be a nice but not exceptional romance story. It's cute and has enough mystery in it to keep the reader entertained, but most of its characters are stereotypical and it doesn't bring anything new to the genre. Once all the characters have been introduced, you can tell who's done what and what's going to happen. I've also had a hard time with the leads; I didn't like Jason much (a bit too "I'm playing the fiancé part without having asked for permission first" t [...]

    19. This was my second book by Cecelia Dowdy and like her first in the Bakery Romance Series it was a pleasure to read. It was a complete book full of joy, faith, laughter, suspense, sorrow and love. What more could you want it a book. The main character Toni had inherited a bakery which she ran with another woman who had a family emergency and had to leave. During a busy time, an unexpected handsome stranger, Jason, walks in, steps in and gives her a helping hand. Toni is from a poor, abusive past [...]

    20. While this story had a strong premise, great faith threads, and struggles each character had with past issues, in my opinion, it still lacked a little something to make it really sparkle. I enjoyed watching Jason’s faith play a major role in his character. He had many issues to deal with but never wavered on his reliance on the Lord. His gentle nature and good heart shone through. Toni’s a strong woman who’s determined to make her chocolate bakery a success. She has to work through her fia [...]

    21. This story follows Tori and Jason. Each have bakery experience, but Tori has had a life in poverty while Jason's family did well. Both had been betrayed or lied to by their previous partners, so they were VERY skittish about starting a relationship. There is a connection to the prior Bakery Romance book - Toni met Rhea and Sterling at a food conference. They have kept in touch and are semi-involved with advice or support. The book starts out with the relationship between Tori and Bryan ending. I [...]

    22. "Shades of Chocolate" by Cecelia DowdyToni enjoys making chocolate treats in her bakery. Haunted by her abusive past, she struggles with her faith in God. Her world changes when a handsome stranger arrives, reminiscing about his childhood. Jason Matthews misses his days of working in his family's pastry shop. Estranged from his father, he longs to rediscover the joy and comfort from baking. When Toni's life is threatened, Jason realizes how deeply he cares for her. Can Toni and Jason overcome th [...]

    23. Faith based romance with a side of mystery! This is how I would describe, Shades of Chocolate! This is the second book of a three part series by Cecilia Dowdy, called The Bakery Romance Series. I read the first book, Raspberry Kisses, and was anxiously waiting to hear more about the main characters, Rhea, Martin and Ravenmply because it was book two and that was my expectation. While Rhea and Martin received a nod, Ms. Dowdy decided to take me on a completely different journey. This time into th [...]

    24. This is the first book of Cecelia Dowdy’s that I have read. The story was interesting and kept me wondering what would happen next, as well as what would be the ultimate outcomes for Jason and Toni. They come from different worlds. The one thing they have in common is their love for baking pastries. Toni’s Shades of Chocolate pastry shop reminds Jason of the shop where his mother taught him to bake and where his love of baking grew and blossomed. Jason is a devoted Christian, but Toni tends [...]

    25. Oh, my. We are talking shades of deliciousness. Can you imagine walking into a bakery, taking a deep breath and smelling all that chocolate? That unique bakery is one of the main characters in this book.Toni and Jason come from very different backgrounds, but do have the love of baking in common. Jason needs to escape his father’s heavy handedness while Toni needs to escape her childhood and ex-fiance’.They join forces when Toni needs help in the bakery and Jason needs baking therapy. Will t [...]

    26. Toni's boyfriend cheated on her so she has put all of her energy into running a bakery that she inherited from her aunt. Jason is having trouble recovering from the death of his mother and the fact that he and his father don't get along is not helping. Jason really loves baking which is something he did with his mother and is also what he would love to continue to do. Jason goes on a vacation and he ends up in a small town where he meets Toni. When strange things start happening at her bakery To [...]

    27. I can honestly say that I have been on a reading hiatus because of some things going on in my life and this book brought my reading life back from the dead! After the shocker at the beginning of the book I just thought things would be pretty uneventful from that point on, BOY was I wrong!!!! This books honestly had plenty of twist and turns and you were always guessing who did this and who did that. The characters are all so intriguing that she could write a story about each and every one of the [...]

    28. I liked the instant connection between Jason and Toni. It wasn't lust, but deeper. When she needed help, he did not hesitate to jump in and assist her. As a result of working together, they got closer. I liked when he jumped in to make things in the bakery. I was a little put off he didn't tell her he was a baker right away, but it didn't come off as dishonest or anything sneaky, so I got over myself. I did like the faith part of the book, but didn't feel it was being shoved down my throat. Than [...]

    29. I ranted at Toni, I laughed with Toni, and I cried with Toni all in one book. I too have struggled with my faith through a child's suicide, family deaths, and family rejection. And I have always felt that old saying, "If He brings you to it He'll get you through it." Since I've never had anyone at my back I appreciated Jason always being there for Toni even though he couldn't tell her what was going through his mind. The author rounded out her characters through the entire book and it was a joy [...]
