    1. PEACE & DISQUIET is an impressive collection of short stories by gifted writer Helen Laycock. In many ways it’s a tour de force of writing styles, genres, and points of view. Every story delivers both in terms of execution, story, and voice, with lots of surprises and unpredictability. Among my favorites, which I think could be dropped into Stephen King’s new collection Bizarre of Bad Dreams without compromising that work at all, are:Ante Mortem – Reflections and events leading up the [...]

    2. A Master Story TellerAs soon as I began to read these twelve stories, I was left open mouthed at the sinister realism and very brave and powerful writing. "Dear Madeline" and "From This Day Forward" in particular are two of the very best stories of this kind I have ever read, each one deeply exploring a haunting and disturbing subject which is only too real in today's society. In every one of the stories however, Helen Laycock writes with a deep understanding of her characters and situations, in [...]

    3. Disturbing, yet compelling.I don't usually like such dark stories, but I've read and enjoyed other work by this author so decided to give this book a go. Despite the rather grim nature of most of them, they're strangely compelling and readable. Sadly, some of the stroylines were all too believable.

    4. Peace and Disquiet is a collection of short stories which are certainly of the more creepy and disquieting side rather than peaceful. All the stories feature death and/or demise of a curious nature often with a little twist or a feeling of all is not what it first seems. The intriguing and deadly overtones remind me very much of the televised 1970's series Tales of The Unexpected.'Til Death Us Do Part is one of the more peaceful sweet stories of an elderly couple who have been through everything [...]

    5. I really enjoyed reading this collection of short stories. The style differs depending on the feeling that the author wants to convey. I didn't like them all in the same way, some I prefer more than others like "Silver lining", "Design" and "Little angels" to name a few. The first book I read from the author was "Light bites" and again, I enjoyed her stories. If you are looking for something different I would definitely recommend this collection. I received a copy of this book in exchange of an [...]
