    1. This was such a great book. I think this one was superior to the Persephone one I read, though there are many similarities between the two. There are so many complex lady characters here, and the clash of cultures and discussion of what it really means to be a hero and take on the burden of being a ruler is just fantastic. The retelling of the Medusa story was an unexpected gem within the book as well - though do be warned, it features a rape sequence that could easily be triggering. In the first [...]

    2. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did Fatal Attraction. I thought the book should have been longer, especially during Athena's maturation in Tyre. It seemed to me that something bigger should have happened besides lounging and seeing sites. Such a long time went by with barely anything said about it.Athena, Nike, and Amoni were really great and likable characters. Athena was just plain awesome, and I'm proud that my little girl's middle name is Athena. Her aegis cloak was so fascinating. I c [...]

    3. Ahhh Athena, who doesn't know the tale of the fully grown woman who springs from the head of Zeus fully formed and fully armed? in this tale we meet her at a marriageable age, being pressured by her mother to take on Poseidon as a husband. In this tale Poseidon is no one's goof guy, we learn a different tale of how Medusa came to be and how Poseidon became King of the Ocean. All of this takes a background tale to Athena and her adventures, it describes how she runs away and learns of the olive tr [...]

    4. I picked up this book to have something light and mindless to take breaks from reading The Muquaddimah. Unfortunately, it was a bit too light. Characters weren't developed very well and the plot seemed to be like a rock skipping on a lake. I also picked it off a romance shelf, and romance was hardly even a subtheme. Overall the book wasn't terrible, but I couldn't get into it.

    5. I really enjoyed this vivid depiction of the early life of Athena. I am really sorry that teh series was discontinued after this book, because it is one of the best romance series I have ever read as far as creativity and atmosphere. This book really brought Athena to life for me. A keeper!

    6. Athena is wild, free, and intelligent. She doesn't want a man controlling her, she wants to own herself. A good read and a great rendition of an old story.
