The story is told in verse with each line rhyming, i.e. "Hurry Mabel, lay that table!" and a further rhyme scheme with the 'Jam Jim' refrain. It's a pleasure to read, the rhymes are infectious and invite participation, and the illustrations have a real energy and joy to them, especially in the pictures of Jim as the jam gets spread liberally around the house. It would be great for read [...]

    5. One of my absolute favourite books from my childhood! A book that can be thoroughly enjoyed through the full-page detailed pictures, alongside the rhyming, almost 'chant'-like verses. Definitely a fun book to have in a KS1 classroom
