    1. Very cute for teens and tweens, it's kinda a spin on the Bayblade series, more geared for girls. In this world, dolls become connected to their owner and become capable of fighting and action, thanks to scientists. It's pretty cool and the story is cutesy.

    2. Apparently this was an anime series originaly. I think they should have just kept it as a TV show; mini-mind-controlled-robot battles don't translate well into manga.

    3. I remember watching the anime when I was a kid. It gave me such a sense of wonder, and I really wanted Angelic Layer to be real. This first volume follows the show (from what I remember), but the art is so bad. This is definitely something better animated.

    4. [Series Length: 5 volumes / Read: volumes 1-5]I thoroughly enjoyed the anime (perhaps my favorite CLAMP-based animation so far), so collecting the manga seemed like a no-brainer.Unfortunately, reading this woefully short manga series has made me realize a few things. First, CLAMP didn't invest nearly as much time and energy into producing this manga as they should have. Second, many of the exciting battles that take place in "Angelic Layer" fall a little flat when viewed on still pages. Third, m [...]

Ah, ata [...]

    6. I definitely have Manga fever, and I can't help but gobble up every CLAMP series that I can get my hands on. Angelic Layer is no exception, and the premise is what really hooked me this time around. Imagine Pokemon meets Tamagotchi meets Barbie (don't judge me!), and you'll have a pretty good idea what Angelic Layer is all about. As always, despite the a vast cultural divide, I do find these both amusing and entertaining, and even found myself chuckling a few times. Does this make me weird? A li [...]

    7. Even though this was a work from Clamp, it usually receive an underated score due to the popularity of other famous work by Clamp like Tsubasa or XxXHolic. I seen and read both the anime and manga version of Angelic Layer, and overal, it was a pretty good series with a unique taste and a sweet story. At first, the story kinda seem like Cardcaptor, but as I can continue on with the series, the story is totally different.Even though there aren't much comedy or romance in Angelic Layer, but the thr [...]

    8. This was a good start to a series. We were quickly introduced to Misaki, the main character, who is a first year middle school student who had just moved to Tokyo. The concept of Angelic Layer (moving dolls and all that) intrigued me from the moment Misaki witnessed the battle on the television screen. She was just as entranced by the fighting dolls and ended up spending all her money on one of her own. Thus, Hikaru is born. Misaki quickly learns the basics of this bizarre game and is able to wi [...]

    9. (NOTE: This is a review for the whole manga.)Misaki is a twelve year old girl who just arrived in Tokyo to live with her aunt. While walking on the streets, she discovered a newly released electronic sport called Angelic Layer. With the help of a weird scientist, she was able to create her own Angel and join the tournament as a Rookie. I like the concept of using self-modified angels to fight in a tournament. Terrific idea! I like the story but it's a bit fast-paced for me because, she just came [...]

    10. Omg, reading this manga made me so nostalgic and I sort of relive the time when I was watching the anime when I was a kid. And boy, it was so fun! I want my own angelic doll, I've wanted one since I was a kid. They're just so cute and very fascinating, and the fact that you can create and style them yourself sounded so fun. The art style was good but it's kinda hard to understand the fight scenes. I'm so excited to continue on with the manga because I forgot almost if not all of the things that [...]

    11. Misaki is an extremely cute and adorable heroine. I loved her enthusiasm for playing Angelic Layer and her determination to strive to do her best. Reading this story made me want to have a doll of my own. I loved all of the cool technology that went into the plot and characters making the story more enjoyable to read. I did see the anime and truthfully I liked that better because the characters were so much more present. They had past lives and a lot more feeling than CLAMP was able to bring int [...]

Salah satu komik favorit saya. :)

    13. I've been working my way through the new manga that we have purchased for our collection at the library. Unlike Hikaru No Go and Yotsuba&!, this one doesn't really hold my attention as an adult reader. It's a straightforward adventure-ish story with little in the way of character development. I also found the reproduction of the art to be somewhat shoddy, and much of the time it was difficult to discern what was happening during the action sequences.

    14. While the style of this clamp story strikes my fancy (it has a particular look for fashion and drawing style that I love) the actual engagement in the story is pretty low for me.She learns how to fight with little robotic characters. It's not that engaging as we watch tournament after tournament without any real engagement. Like she wants to win, but nothing is really on the line. It's more a slice of life with scifi elements. But not Clamps most engaging work. Cute. Worth a look.

    15. Review for the whole series.Very sparse and rushed, compared to Clamp's other action series (X-1999, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles) and with very little character development other than the protagonist. Cute drawing style as usual, closer to Cardcaptor Sakura level of detail rather than, say, their newest Gate-7 beauty. Not my favorite Clamp series, but it felt like they were trying for a more shounen feel.

    16. I actually read this one when I was in high school, but I picked it up today just for the heck of it. The story is interesting and sweet. The main character who discovers a new toy/ battle game and gets really involved in it, discovering along the way that she is very good and has a natural talent for the game. The battle scenes can be hard to figure out, but it's still fun.

    17. The characters names were Chinese/Japanese. Hence, they were impossible to remember and pronounce. Nonetheless, this book was quick and easy to read. At times, I enjoyed the make-belief technology, but overall I didn't like it enough to read the sequels.

    18. Well, CLAMP has done a lot better. Clover, Chobits, etc are so much better than this. It seemed a little egotistic to have the main character reading Magic Knight Rayearth. Like, really? And she names her angel after Hikaru?

    19. Angelic Layer is one of my favorite comic book series from my childhood. The beautiful costumes for the angels, bright peppiness of the main character, and the pricless CLAMP ultimatums ("You must realize your weak spot!") make this a classic!

    20. This story starts out with some serious awkward pacing that thankfully improves after the initial set up of Angelic Layer is established. CLAMP tried to jam too much of a content dump early on in the series, which leaves the first volume feeling rushed. Not their best beginning of a series.
