    1. I liked The Storm better than this story, but without At the Cadian Ball, you wouldn't know the background of the characters in The Storm. So, read this short story just so you can read the better of the two, The Storm.Chopin uses the language of her region to create excellent characters and stories, but this one seems as if it wasn't quite the end of Calixta's involvement in Alcee's life, and it most definitely wasn't.

    2. Written as a prequel for The Storm, At the 'Cadian Ball showed Alcée and Calixta before they were married to Clarisse and Bobinôt respectively. Though Alcée and Calixta have feelings for each other there are already people waiting for their love. Circumstances did not allow them to be together but we will see that the love they have will continue to live in The Storm.

    3. I read these two stories for my major American writers class and they weren't two stories that really stood out for me. They didn't keep my attention as well as some of the other stories that I had to read for that class.

    4. The topic of adultery in this story is magnificent loved the building up to the climax and the fact that cheating seems to be the answer for a happy relationship is so ironically underlined.
